Glassware, Part 2

February 24, 2013

So, now you've got basic glassware for your bar. (If not, go back and read Part 1!) Ready to be a bit more adventurous? Or maybe you are just tired of tall and short glasses? Here are some typical glasses that you will be able to use frequently:

  • Cocktail glass (also called a martini glass)
  • Irish coffee glass (ideal for any hot drink!)
  • Hurricane glass (this curvy glass is perfect for fruity, frozen cocktails)
  • Champagne flute (this might initially seem less of a practical purchase, perhaps, but the flute is designed for functionality: it shows off the drink, concentrates the aroma, and preserves the bubbles.)
  • Shot glass (some might argue that this is a measuring tool, but they've obviously never attended a bachelorette party. Hmm. Maybe you should think about a double shot.)

As far as quantities, you can never go wrong with four of each glass. For the very specific glassware, see the final installment, Glassware, Part 3.
