Hangover?

May 27, 2012

Hangovers suck. No getting around it. But there are mild hangovers, and then the oh-my-god-kill-me-and-please-whisper-while-you-do-it hangovers. Here are a few alternatives to driving an ice pick into your brain to make the pain stop:

  1. Sleep- Really. Time will pass, and your body will recover better if you are resting.
  2. Hydrate- Water is best, but juice is a good option, especially if it has Vitamin C.
  3. Eat- One of the reasons you feel so bad is that you basically poisoned yourself. Eat a combination of carbohydrates and proteins: mac and cheese, PBJ, breakfast sandwich, etc. (My personal fave is bagel with cream cheese and lox!) Just avoid spicy or grease-- either can upset your already unhappy tummy.
  4. Exercise- Please do not go run a marathon or lift weights. Take a walk, stretch, or do yoga. Your coordination is off, and your body is suffering. A little bit will get your metabolism going, and perhaps produce some endorphins. But take it easy to avoid embarrassing injuries.
Of course, you could just avoid the hangover by drinking in moderation... HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!
[I am just gonna say it. If you feel like you need to vomit, just do it. And then brush your teeth.]
