Tools and Equipment, Part 2

January 27, 2013

You have the basics, now on to the muddler! (Essential to a good mojito, trust me.) Here are other not-so-basic tools and equipment every fully stocked bar should have:

  • Bar spoon with a long handle (allows you to float or layer in any size glass)
  • Ice bucket with tong (a life saver if you are making more than two beverages)
  • Juice squeezer (allows you to squeeze fresh juice. Yes, there is a difference!)
  • Bottle sealers (essential if you serve wine!)
  • Electric blender (can be used for mixing drinks and crushing ice)

You might also keep a grater and a peeler. A grater is used for garnishing with spices or chocolate, and a peeler creates twists of fruit. May I suggest that you practice peeling beforehand, and NOT over the drink. Cheers!
